How to Clean a Saniflo Toilet – Step-by-Step
Keeping your Saniflo clean is straightforward and only takes a few simple steps.
1Turn Off the Power
Before you start, make sure the unit is isolated from the mains power. Your Saniflo should be connected to a fused spur rather than a plug socket, so there should be a nearby switch you can use to turn it off.

2Add Descaler
Pour 1 litre of Saniflo Descaler into the toilet bowl and leave it to work for 2 hours with the electrical supply switched off.
The descaler is designed to clean the internal components of the macerator, not the toilet bowl itself. As you pour it into the toilet, it naturally flows through the U-bend and into the Saniflo unit. With the power turned off, the descaler will remain inside the macerator, breaking down limescale and residue safely.

3Flush Once
After 2 hours, flush the toilet once while the electrical supply is still switched off.
If the toilet or Saniflo is already full of water, do not flush it as this could cause it to overflow.
4Wait Another 2 Hours
Leave the descaler in the system for a further 2 hours so it can continue breaking down limescale and residue.
5Restore power and Flush
Turn the power back on and allow the Saniflo to run normally. Once it has stopped, flush the toilet once more with clean water.
