FAQs
This FAQ section covers common questions about Saniflo systems, including operation, maintenance, warranty and installation considerations.
What is the lifetime of a Saniflo macerator?
The lifetime of a Saniflo system is typically around 10 to 15 years, depending on installation, usage and maintenance. Here are key factors to ensure its longevity:
- Proper Installation: Ensure the system is installed correctly by a professional.
- Regular Maintenance: Cleaning and decaling helps prevent scale build-up and premature wear.
- Water Quality: Hard water areas can increase wear on internal components over time.
By following these practices, you can maximize the lifespan of your Saniflo system.
Can I box in or tile over the product?
It is possible to conceal the product, but access must be retained for maintenance and repair.
Any boxing should be easily removable. Thought should also be given to the isolation of the water going to the toilet. A local isolation valve should be fitted to ensure the toilet can be moved when needed.
Can I flush wet wipes into the product?
No, even if the packaging claims they are “flushable.”
How long does a Saniflo macerator run when the toilet is flushed?
The flush discharge generally triggers 2 to 3 operating cycles lasting around 1 to 2 seconds each.
Are Saniflo macerators noisy?
The Saniflo macerator operates at a noise level comparable to that of a standard toilet flush. The decibel output may vary depending on factors such as the specific product and surrounding conditions, such as the presence of tiles, room size, and shape. The latest silence range reduces sound emissions by 10dB compared to its predecessor.
To reduce noise, installation guidelines should be followed, including avoiding direct contact with walls, using anti-vibration pads, and fitting pipework correctly. Additional sound insulation can be added between the unit and surrounding surfaces if required.
What is the warranty period?
All Saniflo products come with a 2-year warranty. Products from the “UP” range can receive an additional 3-year warranty when registered online.
Can the warranty be voided?
The warranty can be voided if the product has not been installed in accordance with the manufacturers guidelines.
Flushing items other than human waste and toilet paper can damage the product and will also invalidate the warranty.
Failure to maintain the product will also void the warranty. Measures must be taken to tackle potential problems with limescale. Saniflo produce a special formulated de-scaler/cleanser for this purpose.
Where can I find the manual for a Saniflo product?
You can find the manuals for your Saniflo unit directly on our website in the Product section.
What precautions should I take during winter to prevent Saniflo issues?
Winterise your Saniflo by insulating pipes, maintaining a steady temperature, and clearing drains for uninterrupted flow. Follow pumpmaster guidelines to prevent freezing and potential damage.
What types of pipework are suitable for Saniflo units?
Copper or rigid solvent-weld plastic is recommended for discharge pipework. Push-fit fittings should be avoided, and a minimum 1% fall should be maintained on horizontal runs. Further guidance is available in Saniflos 10 golden rules.
